Software and distributed systems
Engineering for digital products, internal business systems and services that must work together.
Most of the systems we build are made of several services, data stores and external dependencies. We design how they divide responsibility, communicate and recover, then build them to that design.
What this covers
The components involved depend on what the system needs to do.
Translate operational requirements into application behaviour, user journeys, business rules, and maintainable components. Scope can include web applications, internal tools, and services that support a larger platform.
Design service boundaries, interfaces, validation, and failure handling. Build the business logic and integration points required to connect applications, data, and external services.
Define how components communicate, share responsibility, and behave when dependencies fail. Address consistency, concurrency, performance, and recovery according to the system requirements.
Connect existing systems and automate defined operational processes. Establish interface contracts, access controls, error handling, and visibility so that failures can be diagnosed and resolved.
Assess existing architecture and implementation, then plan targeted improvements or migration. Address technical debt, maintainability, performance, and compatibility while accounting for ongoing business operation.

Common questions
Do you build new systems or improve existing ones?
Both. Platform improvement and modernization is part of this capability, and several of our case studies changed systems that were already in use.
Do you work with our existing technology?
Yes. We work across a wide range of languages, frameworks and databases, and the choice follows the system's requirements. Where you already have an established stack, we build on it unless there is a clear reason to change, and any such change is agreed with you first.
